Physics, Astrophysics and Machine Learning
My name is Horng Sheng and my research interests span across theoretical, data analytical and astrophysical aspects of black hole physics, gravitational wave astronomy and beyond the Standard Model particle physics.
I am currently a member and a Rubicon Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton. Prior to this, I was awarded PhD with cum laude at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands under the supervision of Daniel Baumann. During my graduate studies I was also a visiting researcher at Stanford University and the Perimeter Institute.
I was an undergraduate at the University of Cambridge where I read the Part IA Engineering, Parts IB and II Physics and Part III Mathematics Triposes. During this time I participated in the LIGO SURF program at the California Institute of Technology and conducted summer research at the Centre for Quantum Technologies in Singapore.
I was born and raised in Sandakan, Malaysia on the island of Borneo.
